Vacancy for attorney in the Refugee and Migrants Rights Programme

LHR’s Refugee and Migrant Rights Programme is seeking a lawyer with human rights experience in its Musina office in Limpopo.   

Key responsibilities:

  • monitoring of the deportation process and the treatment of detainees who held pending deportation to Zimbabwe;
  • Legal assistance to asylum seekers and migrant workers in that region; ·
  • Liaise with United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and other relevant international and local stakeholders;
  • Assist in preparing matters for litigation.   

Minimum requirements:

  • Legal qualification with relevant legal experience;
  • Working computer knowledge and internet literacy;
  • Commitment to human rights and a willingness to obtain knowledge of international and domestic refugee law and practice;
  • Valid driver’s licence;
  • Willingness to work in a challenging environment;·        
Successful candidate will need to be based in Musina, Limpopo and will need to travel frequently to Gauteng. Remuneration package will be commensurate with experience.
